Geothermal Energy Creates Low Carbon Life in Xiong County

Since last year's winter, Xiong County has utilized 2.964 million square meters of geothermal resources for centralized heating, and the geothermal heating penetration rate has reached 70.5%. This year, it can save about 90,000 tons of standard coal, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 200,000 tons and *700 tons of carbon dioxide.

Xiong County is rich in geothermal resources, with a total reserve of 82.1 billion cubic meters, and is known as the "hometown of Chinese hot springs." The county party committee and the county government aim at low-carbon city goals, based on actual conditions, and strive to build the first “smoking-free city” in North China.

The county joined hands with the Sinopec Group Nova Star Petroleum Co., Ltd. and the Icelandic Enlex Co., Ltd. to develop a stable, efficient and clean geothermal energy sustainable development road. During heating, the geothermal well converts the heat of the geothermal water to tap water, uses heated tap water to heat the user, and the geothermal tail water achieves 100% pressureless recharging. This development model of “heat recovery without water intake, irrigation and irrigation, and heat exchange utilization” has the characteristics of cleanliness, protection, and recycling, and greatly improves energy efficiency.
