How to determine the amount of rice applied

The amount of rice applied should be determined according to various factors such as soil nutrient supply, rice target yield, fertilizer utilization rate and various fertilizer properties.

(1) Soil nutrient supply

The nutrients absorbed by rice are partly derived from the fertilizer applied and partly from the soil. The amount of nutrients provided by the soil depends on the total amount and availability of soil nutrients. These vary depending on the type of soil, natural conditions, and the level of fertilization and farming management.

Generally speaking, rivers impacting soils have higher soil fertility than saline soils; dry land changes to paddy fields than old rice fields; cold soaking fields have high soil organic matter content, but nutrient release is small; sand land temperature is high, nutrient volatilization is fast, but stamina Poor; the soil temperature is low, the nutrient release is slow but the stamina is sufficient. The supply of soil nutrients can be estimated from 50% to 70% of the previous year's production.

(2) Fertilizer utilization rate

Fertilizers applied to the soil cannot be fully utilized by rice in the season. The amount of fertilizer utilization is related to factors such as fertilizer type, application method and soil properties. Nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer utilization rate is 30% to 50%, superphosphate is 20% to 40%, feces is 10% to 20%, and green fertilizer is 40% to 50%.

The application method is different from the fertilization period, and the fertilizer utilization rate is also different. Deep fertilization is better than application, and concentrated application can increase fertilizer utilization. Nitrogen fertilizer as a base fertilizer is lower than the utilization rate of top dressing. Top dressing has a high utilization rate during the development of young ears.

(3) Yield and fertilization amount

In actual production, according to rice fertilizer demand, soil fertility and fertilizer utilization rate, the amount of fertilizer applied to different target yields can be estimated, but the actual fertilization amount often varies with conditions. Although there is a certain correlation between yield and fertilization amount, in general, the yield increases due to the increase of fertilization, but not the more fertilization, the higher the rice yield, and there should be a certain range.

The amount of fertilizer applied is different depending on the variety, soil, climate and cultivation method. Due to the complicated situation, in general, in the medium-fertility paddy field, the yield of 400-500 kg of rice should be 12-15 kg of pure nitrogen, and the suitable ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is 1:1:1.4.
