A seed treatment formulation is a pesticide preparation having a film-forming property for the treatment of crops or other plant seeds, usually by a pesticide (insecticide, fungicide, nematicide, etc.) The film, the wetting agent, the dispersing agent, the pigment and other auxiliary agents can be directly or diluted and coated on the surface of the seed to form a protective film with a certain strength and permeability (breathable, water permeable).

According to different dosage forms, it can be divided into:

(1) suspended seed coating (FS);

(2) seed treatment microcapsule suspension (CS);

(3) Seed treatment dispersible powder (WS);

(4) Dry seed dressing (DS);

(5) Seed treatment microemulsion (ME).

Two seed treatment agents

The seed treatment technology can directly or indirectly (such as pelleting technology) coating the quantitative agent on the surface of the seed, and the effect of pest control can be achieved under the condition of relatively low active ingredient dosage. According to different ingredients and formulas, generally have one or more of the following functions:

(1) Directly killing seeds to carry pathogens or preventing soil-borne pathogens from infecting, increasing seedling emergence rate and seedling emergence rate, and controlling diseases;

(2) Repel or kill underground or above-ground pests through mechanisms such as repellent, contact, systemic, and stomach poisoning;

(3) Stimulate plant growth and root development;

(4) Improve the viability of seeds or seedlings under adverse conditions;

(5) Improve the storability of seeds and prevent seed deterioration;

(6) Enhance seed vigor and promote whole seedlings and strong seedlings;

(7) Improve crop quality and yield.

How to improve the safety of seed treatment

Due to its unique advantages of high efficiency, environmental protection and labor saving, seed treatment agents are widely concerned and welcomed by the government, enterprises, pharmaceutical companies, distributors and growers. The Chinese seed treatment market has maintained a rapid growth rate of more than 13% in the past five years. However, due to the relatively lagging quality standards of China's seed treatment agents, and the imperfections, the quality of seed coating products on the market is uneven, even shoddy, which has greatly affected the healthy development of the industry, due to product quality problems or improper application. The normal emergence of seeds occurs from time to time, causing losses and troubles for operators and growers. So how can we minimize the risk of seed treatment and avoid losses?

(1) First, a relatively safe and high quality product must be selected for seed treatment. A good quality seed treatment must be "safe."

Use components that are safe for seed germination (such as methoxy acrylate fungicides); the original drug in the formula is selected to have a high content on the market (preferably 98% or more); a film-forming agent with good gas permeability and water permeability is selected. High-quality wetting agent, dispersant, antifreeze and other additives to ensure the stability of formulation storage;

(2) Secondly, seeds must be used in accordance with high standards (up to national standards and above) when coating.
