The unique feature of the tool is its tool body design. The blades of this type are commonly found on the market. The height of the blades is on the same plane, and the two blades are not on the same level after the two blades are installed. Therefore, the two adjacent inserts do not cut the material on the same layer in sequence, but cut the upper and lower materials at the same height. This is called layered milling.
This design can bring the following benefits to processing:
(1) The power requirements for the machine tool are reduced. According to research, compared with the ordinary beef nose milling cutter, the machine power is reduced by nearly 30%, so that some old machines with insufficient power can be rejuvenated.
(2) Low noise cutting is achieved. Compared to conventional beef nose milling cutters, cutting noise is naturally small due to reduced cutting resistance and friction.
(3) Improve cutting efficiency. It is possible to use a larger depth of cut than a conventional beef nose cutter.
(4) It is especially suitable for processing conditions with poor rigidity (such as large overhang processing).
(5) The blade offset design allows the tool to have better dynamic milling performance, increased blade strength, optimized chip size and better plunging angle.
The cutters range in diameter from 36 to 125 mm. There are two types of inserts for this tool: R8 round and octagonal. The circular blade can be used for plane roughing, cavity roughing, profiling, etc.; the octagonal blade has a lead angle of 45° after installation, which is especially suitable for ordinary plane roughing. It is worth mentioning that the R8 round blade of the blue flag and the octagonal blade of the circumscribed diameter of 16 each include a PVD two-color coated LC280TT roughing blade. The upper surface of the blade is a black Al2 PLUS coating with gold around. A yellow TiN coating for easy viewing of the blade wear. This material allows high speed, high feed machining. LC280TT material is suitable for the following processing occasions: 1 machining occasion where the cutting edge is easy to chip; 2 machining occasions with high cutting difficulty (such as intermittent cutting); 3 suitable for mounting on ISO cutter body (RDKT insert).
An example of the machining of the Twincut-Vario tool under extremely poor machining conditions is as follows: Machining material: ductile iron 400; Twincut-vario cutter with a diameter of 50 mm is used, and a total of 6 inserts (model: RCKX 1606MO-TR LC610T) are installed. The blade material is specially designed for cast iron machining; the cutting parameters are: Vc=200m/min, n=1000rpm, fz=0.25/z, Vf=1500mm/min, Ae=43mm, Ap=3mm.
During the machining, the cutting process is smooth, and there is almost no vibration due to poor clamping rigidity.
