Recently, Panzhihua City Yunda Titanium Company made a major breakthrough in the new technology of refining and refining titanium tetrachloride.
Titanium tetrachloride refining process mainly uses copper wire impurity removal and aluminum powder impurity removal technology. The impurity removal of aluminum powder is lower than that of copper wire, and the sewage is easy to handle. In the world, aluminum powder removal technology is mainly used. Institutes such as the China Nonferrous Metal Research Institute, Guiyang Aluminum Magnesium Design Institute, and Tianjin Haotian Chemicals Co., Ltd. have carried out research on aluminum powder impurity removal technology, but no breakthroughs have yet been made. China still uses copper wire to remove vanadium.
The Panzhihua City Yunda Titanium Company began the laboratory test and pilot test in October 2007. In December 2007, it established a demonstration production line for 10,000 tons aluminum powder impurity removal. At present, the aluminum dust removal technology is basically opened. More than 10 tons of refined titanium tetrachloride have been produced. The products have been tested by the Panzhihua Iron and Steel Research Institute and the product quality has reached the production requirements of titanium sponge.
The demonstration line is currently the only aluminum powder removal refining titanium tetrachloride production line in China. In the next step, the company will invest a lot of funds in industrial production and automatic control technology research.
