Steam shrinkage process
In fact, the “seal shrink sleeve†is a combination of a Contiroll labeler, a UV-cured tunnel and a shrink tunnel. This technology will replace the shrink seal bottle labeling process used in the past. Its special feature is the use of a steam shrink tunnel with a hot air tunnel for shrink packaging.
Film wrapped to container
The “Roll Seal Shrink Sleeve†allows the steam tunnel to work with newly developed stretched polyethylene materials, enabling up to 22% shrinkage of the film on the container. The specific process is the same as for a typical Contiroll labeler. First, the film is wound from a reel onto a container and the head and tail of the film are glued together using an ultraviolet cross-linkable hot melt.

Achieve steam heat shrink
After the container is exposed to UV light, it will enter the shrink tunnel. In shrink tunnels, the film labels will shrink and cling tightly with steam according to the shape of the bottle. The Shrinkmat steam tunnel is a newly developed component of Krones. Because the steam chamber is fully insulated, the loss of energy is kept as small as possible, and it is also possible to protect the operator from injury due to contact with hot parts.
Module design adds flexibility
Another feature of the steam tunnel is its modular design, which provides an option for expanding existing tunnels and, when needed, can increase production capacity by adding modules. In addition, UV tunnels and steam shrink tunnels can be directly integrated into actual production lines, or existing equipment can be retrofitted in the form of bypass, greatly increasing the flexibility of production.
