UC Won, headquartered in Nevada, USA, has obtained a lease for an existing geothermal production well in northern Nevada. The company plans to start testing to deploy RenewGeo technology. This "renewable energy" is a patented technology called "solar-enhanced geothermal energy", which stores solar energy underground and produces 24/7 sustainable geothermal energy.

These geothermal wells are currently not commercially viable or have been abandoned oil and gas fields. Steve DeOreo, a thermal geologist who participated in the destination, said: "Although the site was originally developed for traditional geothermal energy, the existing well configuration is suitable for regenerative geothermal technology."
The test is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2019, awaiting final funding arrangements.
