    According to the " 2009 National Import and Export Bulletin of Major Forest Products" provided by the Development Planning and Fund Management Department of the State Forestry Administration, China's log imports showed three changes last year.  Â
    The first is price and volume changes. In 2009 , the domestic log output was 69.38 million cubic meters, a decrease of 5.7% from 2008. In the future, domestic wood resources will be mainly planted forests, and the number is steadily increasing. However, large-diameter high-quality wood still needs to be imported. In 2009 , a total of 28.059 million cubic meters of various types of logs were imported, a decrease of 5.1% year-on-year, and log imports fell for two consecutive years. A total of 4.414 million cubic meters of New Zealand timber was imported throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of up to 131.2% , making it the second largest timber importer in China. Although the import volume of Russian timber still ranks first, it has fallen by 20.7% . The main reason for the significant changes in the imports of timber from New Zealand and Russia is that in addition to the fact that New Zealand is cheaper than Russian timber, the improvement of processing technology and the continuous expansion of New Zealand timber applications in recent years are also important reasons. At present, the use of radiata pine is not limited to making low value-added products such as packaging materials. It has been widely used in the production of a series of high-end products such as wooden doors and windows, solid wood furniture, plywood, indoor and outdoor decoration, and decoration materials. From the current development situation, there has been an obvious trend of gradually replacing coniferous materials such as Russian Pinus sylvestris with New Zealand radiata pine.  Â

    Gabon, in particular, was China ’s fifth largest importer in 2009 , with an import volume of 1.1 million cubic meters. In 2010 , logs were banned from export. Qian Xiaoyu believes that Gabon ’s domestic timber The processing capacity is difficult to digest a large number of logs at a time, and all operations are not strong.     Future trends, sawn timber imports will gradually increase  Â
In 2009 , 9.935 million cubic meters of sawn timber ( including sleepers ) were imported, with an import value of US $ 2.33 billion, up 38.3% and 14.1% year-on-year respectively. The top five countries are: Russia, Canada, Thailand, the United States and New Zealand . Â Â
