Water grams fire? SafeFlame technology can make aquatic fire out

Pressurized acetylene and propane gases for brazing are highly flammable and can be very dangerous if not properly used. While water is a non-flammable substance, this does not mean that water cannot produce fire. The Union-funded SafeFlame Alliance has developed a flare system that can produce flames only through water and electricity.

SafeFlame uses electricity to electrolyze normal water, electrolyzing water into hydrogen and oxygen. The two gases are separated and mixed and ignited at the torch nozzle. By fine-tuning the ratio of the two gases, different types of flames can be produced for different applications.

In addition, the length and heat of the flame can be adjusted by changing the amount of electrolyzer delivered. SafeFlame explained that hydrogen and oxygen produced during electrolysis can be directly separated, so the electrolyzed gas does not need to be contained in any flammable gas cylinder, so this device does not have the risk of fire and explosion. In addition, since the temperature of the flame can be reduced to a minimum level, there is no risk of serious burns to the user and sensitive metals having a low melting point.

SafeFlame's prototype is being tested throughout Europe and plans to commercialize it in the near future. According to the developer’s information, the electrolytic cell needs to be made of platinum, considering the pricing of the machine. In fact, the brazing operation using this device does not help to reduce costs.
