Paying attention to the new progress of agricultural rare earth

Rare earth farming is a new application field that has emerged in China since the early 1970s. It has been listed as a national key project for the "Sixth Five-Year Plan" and "Seventh Five-Year Plan", and a national-level spark project. It belongs to one of the eight main application fields of rare earth. Rare earth can promote plant metabolism, enhance physiological activity, accelerate plant cell division and proliferation, increase chlorophyll content, enhance photosynthesis, promote nutrient absorption and utilization of crops, and enhance drought. Resilience to adverse conditions such as low temperatures, increase dry matter accumulation, increase crop yield and improve quality. Through the large-scale application and promotion in the country (except for Tibet and Taiwan as a small test), rare earth is applicable to all regions and all crops. The probability of rare earth increasing crop yields is over 95%.

Agricultural rare earth is a kind of nitrates mainly composed of light rare earth. Its molecular formula R(NO3)3·6H2o (R stands for mixed rare earth), rare earth oxide content accounts for 37%-40%, and it is slightly purple-red powder (also Liquid), particle size <5mm, melting point 90±2. The rare earth should be sealed and stored, otherwise it will be easy to absorb water and deliquesce, but it will not fail. Studies on the physiological effects of rare earth elements on plants have shown that the proper use of rare earth elements promotes the growth and development of plants and achieves the effect of crop yield increase. The dry matter accumulation of plants is derived from photosynthesis, while the rare earth elements can increase the content of chlorophyll and photosynthetic rate; promote the rooting of the roots, accelerate the growth of roots, strengthen the ion absorption activities and physiological functions of the roots, and affect the nitrogen fixation of plants and certain enzymes. The activity of the atomic tracer method found that rare earth can promote the absorption and operation of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in plants. As for the physiological effects of rare earth elements on plants, it is still indirect and still needs further research.

At present, there are four major series of rare earth agricultural products in China. The first one is rare earth micro-fertilizer, the second one is rare earth multi-component compound fertilizer, the third one is rare earth ammonium bicarbonate compound fertilizer, and the fourth one is rare earth feed additive. The impact of agricultural rare earths on farmland ecosystems that have been stirred up in the industry has already been answered in February 2003. The research project organized by Academician Ni Jiazan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences finally concluded that about 99% of agricultural rare earths can be quickly soiled after entering the soil. Absorption, under normal conditions, the resolution and diffusion are slow. According to the current dose of rare earth, in non-acid soil under normal conditions, the possibility of contaminating groundwater within 100 years may be small. However, in acid rain and laterite regions, the migration rate of rare earths is accelerated and needs attention.

Hunan Provincial Rare Earth Agricultural Research Center has been working on the production and promotion of agricultural rare earth products. Recently, Baotou Gold Rare Earth Bio-application Co., Ltd. has made new progress in agricultural rare earth. It is reported that they have sold their products to South Korea last year.
